A crucial medicine to treat childhood leukemia is in such short supply that hospitals across the country may exhaust their stores within the next two weeks, leaving hundreds and perhaps thousands of children at risk of dying from a largely curable disease, federal officials and cancer doctors say.

Ben Venue Laboratories was one of the nation’s largest suppliers of injectable preservative-free methotrexate, but the company voluntarily suspended operations at its plant in Bedford, Ohio, in November because of “significant manufacturing and quality concerns,” the company announced.

I'm gonna take a shot in the dark here but I'll just assume the drugs are also outsourced to Japan or Taiwan or some other country where a natural disaster has revealed a gaping wound in our greed driven society.

    I find this news so disturbing. Young chuldren and babies it seems will be most affected. Its a sad sad day when the Drug companies are so greedy they can' t be relied on to provide life saving drugs because they are inexpensive and Drug companies only want to produce more expensive drugs. Maybe they could cut back on the TV commercials , that come on every five seconds, and concentrate their money on actually MAKING the drugs
